Garmin 430/530
All,
Can a Garmin 430/530 fit in the dash of the M-7-235C?
I was told they are very long and could be a problem.
thank you,

A non slaved HSI is like a DG in that you have to keep resetting it though some DGs go a long time with no precession.
I am selling a Maule at present which has the slaved compass which as you see adds lots of weight.
It is one of those 'it depends' answers.
Will you fly lots of hard IFR or once a year.
Are you good about keeping up with your present DG precession.

When I first got my M5 about 10 years ago, I was hot to add an HSI during the GPS install. Then my avionics tech explained the weight, complexity and cost of install for a slaved system. I stuck with the DG and separate CDIs.
I am sure glad I did. Now you can install an Aspen Avionics display brand new for less than a used slaved HSI install would run. The Aspen system is competitive even with just the overhaul cost of an HSI.
Weighs less, more display and less cost than an HSI. What's not to like? That being said, I still haven't pitched for the cost for either....
