MM has pointed out the issue even the big guys like airbus and Boeing get modified by outside vendors. Back when I had say into what went into a plane it was usually picked up at the factory green and sent to some one else to finish. every aircraft is a compromise and it would be impossible to factor all that in at the factory look at the home built each one is different there is no way to get the economy of scales with all those variables. Then try and get that by the feds it ain't going to happen.

Mods
I am guessing if you really wanted mods on a new Maule, just roll it out of Maule Air, Inc. to Maule Flight, Inc. and just pony up the $$ for all the mods you want and you will have a "zero" time airplane with all the geegaws your heart desires.

Maule Air would love to be able to sell you whatever you want in an aircraft. Maule would be happy and the buyer would be happy. However, please consider that Maule is a certified aircraft and is subject to some serious federal regulation (which you all know) so they cannot add a color of carpet, sew in a map pocket, change your seat belt color, etc without burn tests, FAA applications, refusals, more applications, FAA questions and on and on. And that is just the little stuff! Of course the cost for all this beuracratic hoop jumping is prohibitive! It gets worse every year. So, as has been stated, it is best to buy your Maule with the options already available on the type and anything more you want have it done aftermarket. It is just the way it is.
