Congrats!
A little bit surreal the first time you land *at your house*, isn't it ? I still get a kick out of it every time

Indeed it's living the life to walk out of the back door of the house talking a few leisurely steps to the side door of the hangar

Nothing like the money you’ll save hangaring at home: makes aviation a damn site more affordable. You’ll actually be able to afford a couple of unobtainium upgrades.

It is nothing better than to have a strip in the back yard

Re: First Landing at home strip
I'd love to have a grass airstrip on my property but it's not really a cost argument. It would take me around 12 years to recover the cost of building a suitable hangar and clearing/seeding/maintaining the airstrip. The real arguments are availability, proximity and convenience. The nearest airport to me is 22 miles away. I rent a T-hangar from them for $250/month. There's a very long waiting list for T-hangars - availability. I don't mind the 30 minute drive each way but if I have to make an early flight, I have to get up earlier - proximity. Making a quick trip to the hangar when I've forgotten to update my GPS data card or need to clean the bugs off the airplane is more of a hassle with the airplane 22 miles away - convenience.
The airport has several advantages over having my own grass strip, though. They have fuel, AWOS, plowed runways when it snows, maintenance facilities and three instrument approaches. You can duplicate these on your own but it's expensive.

Nothing like walking out the back door and crawling in to terrorize the neighborhood for a few minutes in the afternoon.
