Where can I find cabin size measurements between the models?

Post by Float Pilot »

I am sure that somebody, somewhere has measured the width, height and length of the interior room of the various models...

I was sorta leaning towards an M-5 , only because they seem to be more available,,, (affordable) but my needs will probably require a bit more cabin space...

Anyway,, anyone have a link ??

I can't give you dimensions, but I can tell you that M-4, M-5, M-6, and MX-7 have the same cabin size. M-7 is a bit taller (an inch or two?) above the back seat, and a bit longer (maybe six inches?) in the baggage area.

The M-7 has more headroom in the rear seat than the MX-7. I've occasionally had a problem with someone who has a long torso bumping their head in the back seat.

Headroom and legroom/length are tremendously affected by the seat cushion fitted.
The difference can be 4" vertically and/or horizontally.
There are two types of seats, the later give more legroom and slightly higher backrest.

So basically for something like a folding raft or inflatable kayaks, the M7 cargo bay is the way to go...
I notice they avoid talking about cabin height at the seats...

I could not find any M-5s, 6s, of 7s around when I went up to Kenai and Soldotna today with a tape measure. Just a couple old M4s,,,,

I have measured out the room inside a C-180 and those are not any larger than a C-172 inside. From the listed measurements the Maules seem to be close or the same in width... At least up by the shoulder area.

Looked over a nice Bearhawk today.... Hubba Hubba...

Come on up to Talkeetna. We've got 4s, 5s, 6s, and 7s. Of course, you can find plenty at Merrill as well, which is closer for you.

Just trying to figure out why they feel tighter.... Maybe it is the height inside...
Of course now that I am out shopping I can't find a Maule anywhere... At least one the is reasonably priced for a work plane.

I might be down in Homer with my M-6 either this weekend or next, depending on the wx. You'd be welcome to check it out and measure it, if you wanted to.
